The birthplace of Swindon's blonde bombshell Diana Dors will be recognised with a blue plaque.

The aluminium plaque, painted blue and with white lettering, will mark the birthplace of Diana Mary Fluck at 61 and 62 Kent Road in Old Town Swindon, the former site of the Haven Nursing Home.

Just a year after her birth, in 1931, the Haven Nursing Home reverted to being a family home and the location of Diana’s birth was lost in history. The adjoining property was the doctors' surgery and the two buildings had internal interconnecting doors that allowed the doctor to assist the midwives when necessary.

The owners of the properties were first approached by the team behind the Swindon Heritage Magazine at the end of  summer 2016. Both families jumped at the idea and are delighted to be living in such an important Swindon location.

The plaque will be unveiled on January 14.
