Actor Sir Roger Moore has died in Switzerland at the age of 89.
The veteran actor visited Swindon in 1984 to film sequences for A View to a Kill in 1984, his last outing as James Bond.
Link photographer, Richard Wintle, who was working for the Western Daily Press at the time, recalls his lucky scoop when he spotted the unmistakable figure of Roger Moore.
“I was out there covering the filming, but the Roger Moore had a deal which meant that no photographers were allowed to take pictures on the set. I was waiting around outside when I spotted Roger Moore and Patrick Macnee walking on public land around the outside of the old Renault Building.
"I was lucky to capture some great images of the pair of them strolling towards me and those were taken up by publications around the world. The Adver photographer arrived just a couple of minutes later and was annoyed to have missed out!”
Filming took place inside the former Renault parts distribution warehouse, designed by world famous architect Norman Foster, off Mead Way.
Sir Roger was the third actor to play the famous spy and appeared in seven Bond films including Live and Let Die and the Spy Who Loved Me. He was also well known for other acting roles roles including Simon Templar in the Saint.
Sir Roger's family confirmed he had died after "a short but brave battle with cancer" in Switzerland. He will have a private funeral in Monaco in accordance with his wishes, they added.
