Accountancy firm Haines Watts sponsored Wrag Barn Golf Club’s annual charity golf day.

The event at the Highworth club raised more than £10,700 for Hft, which was formerly known as Home Farm Trust and provides a range of services for people with learning disabilities.

The day itself saw 23 teams come together to tackle 18 holes, a Beat the Pro game and a chipping contest followed by dinner, a raffle and an auction of prizes.

Funds raised will be used to upgrade staff facilities and overnight rooms throughout Hft’s network of properties.

Martin Gurney, partner at Haines Watts said: “Last year was our first year sponsoring this hugely successful event. Everyone involved made such an impact that we made the decision to continue our sponsorship and enter another team this year.

"Charities like Hft are vital for our local communities, and the assistance this brings to individuals and their families is immeasurable. It is our pleasure to assist the Manners family, who own Wrag Barn, in their fund-raising efforts.

“Hft’s Fusion Model of Support ensures they focus on being creative about the kind of personal care and support they provide. Their services range from residential care and day opportunities to supported living and domiciliary care at home as well as helping those in their care develop meaningful relationships and paid employment.”

Hft was originally set up in the early 1960s by a group of parents with children who had learning disabilities. They wanted their children to have the best chance of a fulfilling life at a time when there were few opportunities for them.

They came together and purchased Frocester Manor in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire as a safe place for those children. Later the manor was sold and the charity focuses more on independent living offering smaller homes with assisted support.

Today the organisation runs many homes and also offers an outreach service to families. More information about its work can be found at https://www.hft.org.uk

Haines Watts is a Top 15 accountancy firm in the UK, and in 2020 the company was named as one of the UK’s top 10 accountancy practices to work for after investing in staff wellbeing, cultural development and mindfulness support across the pandemic.
