Swindon has the sixth lowest crime rate in Britain according to a new study.

Specialist home security systems firm ADT commissioned research into the crime rate per 1000 people in communities across the UK.
The data covered the year ending in March of 2023, and found that Dorset was the safest location, with a crime rate of 49 per 1000 people.
Harrow followed with 62, Bexley with 65, Bromley with 69 and Barnet with 73.
Barnet edged Swindon - with 75 - out of the top five.
After Swindon, Wandsworth took seventh place with 75, Havering eighth with 76, Redbridge ninth with 79 and Hillingdon 10th with 80.
The research also revealed that the postcode area with the lowest crime rate in the UK is CW12 3 in Cheshire East, which includes the Congleton, Astbury, Rushton and Newbold council wards.
For the year ending June 2023, the crime rate for this postcode area was just 4.7 per 1,000 people.
Waltham Forest, one of the London boroughs, took the top spot for family-friendly areas in the UK. It ranked within the top 15 for both the lowest crime and burglary rates, with a rate of 82 for the former and 3.2 for the latter, both per 1,000 people.
It also ranked seventh for schools, with 82.8 percent having a 'Good' or higher rating from Ofsted.
