A housebuilder has helped a grassroots community football club.
Bellway, which is building new homes in nearby Wroughton, has presented Ashton Keynes Youth Football Club with £450 to invest in new equipment and training courses for its volunteers.
The club, which plays its home games at the High Road Playing Field in the village, caters for boys and girls aged from five to 18.
Club Secretary David Affleck said: “Our pitches are in the middle of the village and are one of the focal points for outdoor activity as the playing fields are also home to children’s play areas and tennis courts.
“Of course, as a voluntary organisation we seek help from partners. This is what makes our relationship with organisations like Bellway so important.
“Without funding and promotion, we would struggle to pay for our annual running costs and on-going larger expenditure which ranges from new goals, footballs, playing kit, ground investment, insurance and league fees to coach and volunteer education.
“Thanks to Bellway, we’ll be able to purchase much-needed mini goals and volunteer training courses to support our teams.”
Bellway is building 103 new homes at its Ridgeway Park development off Marlborough Road in Wroughton.
Rachel Way, Sales Manager for Bellway South West, said: “We are grateful to Ashton Keynes Youth Football Club for giving us this opportunity to assist their efforts in providing the equipment and training necessary to enable youngsters to get involved in worthwhile sporting activity.
“We are always keen to support grassroots organisations which do valuable work in the local communities close to where we build, and this partnership will benefit children living at our Ridgeway Park development who may decide to join the club.”
