Local homebuilder Bellway are planning on providing a nursery and a space for business units, as part of a 200-home development in Lyneham.

Bellway - who are also in charge of the Ridgeway Park development in Wroughton - have submitted a detailed planning application for the scheme on land off Chippenham Road in the Wiltshire village.

The nursery plan is said to feature four playrooms, including quiet areas as well as a staff room, meeting space, an office and reception area.

The development also has space set aside for multi-let units for local businesses. Bellway say the plans include 17 units in all, spread across two blocks.

All the units will be laid out over two storeys - and ten units will have 1,410 sq ft of floorspace, six will have 1,840 sq ft and one will be 2,450 sq ft in size.

Sam Sowden, Land Director for Bellway South West, said: “This planning application outlines our vision for a mixed-use scheme bringing together residential, commercial and community elements to create a thriving and sustainable new neighbourhood.

“By delivering purpose-built units for childcare and businesses alongside new homes, this development will help build a flourishing community with employment opportunities and services that families need on the doorstep.

“We are committed not only to building five-star quality homes in Lyneham, but also to providing the facilities which will make this a more desirable place for people to live, and working with key stakeholders to bring forward the development.

“We are anticipating a decision from Wiltshire Council on our planning application in spring 2023 and if the scheme is approved we hope to start construction work on the first homes later that year.”

Homes ranging from two to five-bedroom houses, and one-bedroom apartments, are planned for the development - with 80 of them said to be affordable properties for rent or shared ownership.

Bellway has been awarded five-star builder status by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for the past six years.

This status is achieved when more than 90 per cent of customers surveyed by the HBF say they would recommend a housebuilder to a friend or family member.
