Affordable home seekers in Swindon are being offered an easier route onto the property ladder following the latest release of Shared Ownership homes by Bromford.
The two-bedroom energy-efficient homes in Moredon are available through the scheme, and three-bedroom, three-storey homes now also available.
Moredon Grange, next to the new Moredon Sporting Hub, is being delivered in partnership with housebuilder Keepmoat, and Bromford says it demonstrates that affordable homes and quality specification can go hand-in-hand.
Once complete, 33 homes will be available through Shared Ownership at the development.
Bromford Shared Ownership allows buyers at Moredon Grange a chance to secure a home of their own, at a share typically between 25 and 75 per cent, paying a deposit and mortgage against that share only, and rent on the remainder.
Thereafter, residents can increase their owned share, all the way to 100%, reducing or eliminating rent along the way, through a process called staircasing.
For example, a two-bedroom home at Moredon Grange has a full market value of £295,000, and a 40% share is £118,000, meaning a 5% deposit against that share - £5,900 - is what is needed up front.
Libby Bolton, Head of Sales and Marketing, West, at Bromford, said: “Moredon Grange is an exciting addition to our offering of affordable homes in Swindon, and our partnership with Keepmoat is bringing high-quality new homes to a well-connected part of the town.
“Shared Ownership continues to open doors for those who may feel priced out of the market, and with good schools, green spaces and excellent transport links close by, these homes are perfect for first-time buyers and couples taking their next step.
“With reservations now underway, I’d strongly recommend getting in touch with our friendly sales team to find out how Shared Ownership could work for you, and to avoid missing out.”
The area is well served by esteemed schools nearby, including Moredon Primary and Nursery School and Nova Hreod Academy, both rated Good by Ofsted, as well as Crowdys Hill School, which welcomes children with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
Moredon Grange also sits close to a wealth of green spaces, including Mouldon Hill Country Park and Shaw Forest Park, while Swindon itself is home to the Swindon Designer Outlet, the Orbital Shopping Park and Museum & Art Swindon.
With Swindon railway station just 2.4 miles away, and junction 16 of the M4 and the A419 both within easy reach, the development is described as also ideal for commuters.
