Sandpit Road housing development in Calne has been shortlisted in the Michelmores' Property Awards.

The law firm's presitigious property awards recognise the very best property and construction schemes in the South West as well as the teams involved.

This is the nineteenth consecutive year of the Michelmores' Property Awards and the boundaries have expanded to include Wiltshire.

Calne's Sandpit Road joins 46 other projects and has been shortlisted in the Residential Project of the Year (35 units and under) category.

The scheme stood out to the judges for its inventive 'hub' house approach that seeks to create an adaptable home that can be altered to meet the changing needs of its residents.

The judges believe the internal layout's vertical and horizontal movement, adaptable storage, vertically stacked wet rooms and both formal and informal entrances complement a flexible living space. The concept allows for residents to subdivide their home's layout as needed over time.

The judges commented on the scheme's exceptional and refreshing approach to today's complex and changeable living arrangements. They were further impressed with the bespoke nature of the development and the finish of the external design.

Thelma Sorenson, who joined the panel of judges said: "The hub house concept is something to be commended and I'm sure that this innovative scheme will really appeal to those who want to have something quite different. It's innovative and was accompanied by an exceptional, stand-out application from the team."

Emma Honey, Partner and Head of the Real Estate team at Michelmores LLP said: "I'd like to extend my congratulations to the shortlisted projects for the Michelmores Property Awards 2021. We continue to live in uncertain times and like many others, the construction, property and real estate sectors are navigating a series of on-going and unique challenges.

"The submissions for the awards this year underline the resilience and adaptability of those working in the region and looking ahead there is much to be excited about. We look forward to celebrating 2021's winning projects at our gala dinner on Thursday 4 November at Sandy Park Conference Centre in Exeter. We will share more details on this year's ceremony soon."
