A new Your Co-op Food store on Swindon's Pipers Way has opened its doors.
The £500,000 convenience store has created 15 jobs for the local area and offers grocery items from fruit and vegetables, fresh meat and flowers to a range of wines, spirits and chilled beers.
There is also an in-store bakery, a Costa Coffee machine, a chilled food-to-go range, a National Lottery and PayPoint terminal and an ATM machine.
Allocated car parking will be available for customer use, and the store has also been fitted with LED lighting and energy efficient refrigeration to help reduce its impact on the environment.
In addition to all Co-op branded packaging being recyclable, the store will also offer a soft plastic recycle unit to enable shoppers to recycle soft plastics such as crisp packets and pet food pouches, which can’t usually be placed in kerbside recycling bins.
As part of the store’s commitment to supporting the local community, a foodbank collection point for Swindon Food Collective will also be available, allowing customers to drop off a range of essential items needed by families in the local area.
Manager Beth Murray said: “We’re so excited to be opening the doors of our brand-new convenience store on Pipers Way. It’s great to be investing in the local economy and creating new jobs for the area.
“We can’t wait to meet the local community and are looking forward to welcoming members and customers. I’m sure they’ll be impressed with the wide range of products and services we have on offer.”
Your Co-op is part of The Midcounties Co-operative, which is one of the largest independent UK co-operatives and is fully owned by its members.
Customers at the new store will have the option of becoming a member of the Society, giving them access to exclusive deals as well as special offers from across the Your Co-op group of businesses.
Members also have a say in how the Society is run, including the work it does to support local communities in partnership with local volunteers and community groups, all of which can be accessed via the Your Co-op Membership app.
The latest round of openings includes two in the Swindon area – the Pipers Way store and the recent Abbey Farm branch opening on Diamond Crescent.
The new shop is open from 7am to 10pm daily.
