The Post Office has announced a new West Swindon branch.
It will open in September at the West Swindon Centre, which was home to a branch in a different unit until it closed in January of last year.
The news was welcomed by South Swindon MP Sir Robert Buckland, who has lobbied for a reopening.
He said: "Along with Cllr Suresh Gattapur, I have been campaigning on behalf of local residents for the reopening of the West Swindon Post Office since the branch first closed.
"We are therefore very pleased that the Post Office has announced that the branch will be re-opening on Friday 15th September at the new location - Unit B2B West Swindon District Centre, Swindon, SN5 7DL.”
The Post Office said in a public announcement: "We are delighted to let you know that following the temporary closure of West Swindon Centre Post Office we will be re-opening the branch on Friday 15 September.
"Customers would access Post Office services at a low-screened, open-plan, modern serving point that’s part of the retail counter.
"Working with the postmaster, we’d adapt the current store layout, fixtures and fittings to accommodate the Post Office till if needed."
The Post Office is inviting the public to share their views on what the branch should include, and they can do so via www.postofficeviews.co.uk/national-consultation-team/west-swindon-centre-sn5-7dl-1-247548/
