What Actually is the Best Age to Start Anti-Ageing Treatments?

There’s so much speculation about when you should start anti-ageing treatments. A lot of the movement says preventative is better than cure. What that means is targeting ageing before the skin loses its elasticity, deep wrinkles set in, and it’s so hard to come back from. Others think the 20s and 30s are too young to start anti-ageing treatments, and anyone going for them is wrong.

So, what’s the correct answer? Read on to find out.

Prevention is Better Than Cure

If you’re on the prevention is better than the cure team, you’re on the right side!

It’s true that prevention is better than cure. The issue is that most of us start with fine lines. Fine lines are treatable, and there are so many products and cosmetic treatments on the market that will completely remove fine lines and prevent them from returning (if you keep up with the treatment).

Yes, we will argue that once you start, you can’t stop. As soon as you stop having anti wrinkle injections and the movement in the facial muscles returns, so will the fine lines. But what you could do is treatments like facials and other injectables that don’t paralyse the muscles alongside botox injections for longer-lasting results.

And, of course, staying hydrated, getting 8-10 hours of sleep, and following a good diet helps prevent the signs of ageing.

In our opinion, anyone over the age of 25 when collagen production naturally begins to deplete is a good time to start anti-ageing treatments.

Young 20-Year-Olds Don’t Need it

It's one we’ll always agree with. Anyone under the age of 25 doesn’t need to start anti-ageing treatments. The skin still produces enough collagen, hasn’t started to lose its elasticity, and generally looks youthful and fresh.

We’re not saying that people in their young 20s can’t invest in skincare and treatments designed to keep the skin looking fresh and healthy, like facials or retinol and collagen products, but there’s no need to go for injectables.

We’ve noticed a growing trend, mainly from social media, of people in their young 20s, going for harsh treatments that don’t suit their skin type and are actually not doing their skin good! Don’t be that person.

There’s Actually No True Answer

If you want us to talk about research, there’s no true answer. No evidence is available to tell us the exact age that’s the best time to start anti-ageing treatments. Some people will argue you can do it whenever you want as long as you’re of legal age.

Most studies do tell us how the skin naturally ages, with a real acceleration in the ageing process after the age of 40. Still, we wouldn’t wait until you’re 40 to start anti-ageing treatments. Do your research and find what works for you!

So, sorry we couldn’t give you a definite answer. Realistically, it’s up to you and your unique skin needs. With the correct professional guidance, you can determine what treatment is best for your skin type, skin needs, and age!
