Carers supported by the charitable organisation Swindon Carers Centre have received an early Christmas present from a leading housebuilder.
Persimmon Wessex has announced it has donated £1000 to the organisation through the housebuilder’s charitable ‘Community Champions’ scheme.
Swindon Carers Centre, part of the Carers Trust, provides support to 21,000 unpaid carers operating in the town.
The charity aims to help people to access the support they are entitled to as a carer so they can look after their own wellbeing, living a healthy, fulfilling life alongside their caring role.
Heather Goldmsith, Events Manager for Adult and Older Carers at Swindon Carers Centre said: “We are incredibly grateful for the support from Persimmon Homes Wessex, which enabled us to support 120 of Swindon’s hardworking carers with a Christmas lunch.
“Unpaid carers play a crucial role in meeting the needs of some of the most vulnerable people in our communities, and Persimmon’s support allowed our carers to take a well-earned break in the run up to Christmas.
“Swindon Carers Centre works together with local employers to make a difference, and we are delighted to have enjoyed this support from Persimmon Wessex.”
Pauline Fletcher, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “We are delighted to support Swindon Carers Centre. They are a fantastic organisation that ensures carers in our local community are supported, and that people of all ages receive the proper care they need to live their lives.
“It is hugely important to Persimmon that we support the communities where we build, and in doing so celebrate the people behind some of the amazing charity work that is a cornerstone of Swindon.
“We thanks our unpaid carers in Swindon for the great work they do for so many in the town.”
