Wiltshire’s Revolution Performing Arts will host its annual open day this month at Swindon Supermarine Rugby Club.
The open day will take place on Sunday 11 September, from 12pm - 3pm.
The event is described as an opportunity for families to enjoy a taste of what the performing arts group offers children in terms of acting, performing, singing, dancing and having fun.
Fi Da Silva Adams, founder of Revolution Performing Arts, said: “We want families to come along so that children can enjoy our free taster sessions, raffle, stalls, bouncy castle, spotlight moments, nerf guns, water play and disco.”
Revolution Performing Arts was set up in 2007 by Fi Da Silva Adams as a drama group for toddlers and preschool children. Before long, growing demand led to its expansion to cover school-aged children.
Children attending the open day will have opportunities to play some drama games, perform a spotlight dance and take part in a dance-off at the on-site disco. Visitors will also be able to enjoy face painting, arts and crafts sessions, and mindfulness sessions.
The open day matches the ethos of classes at Revolution Performing Arts.
Fi added: "In all our classes we place an emphasis on fun, confidence building, boosting self-esteem and developing individual potential! All elements of our sessions are child-centred and there is no pressure to perform, we want children to relax, enjoy themselves and have a good time.”
Confidence-building and self-esteem are important foundations for the group and the open day will also feature information on special educational needs and disabilities, mental health and wellbeing, teen meditation and more.
The group regularly works with vulnerable children and families across its 32 weekly classes.
While funding is vital for the survival and long-term growth of Revolution Performing Arts, any donations received during the course of the open day will be in aid of Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service (SDASS) who are hoping to attend on the day.
Revolution Performing Arts offers funded places to young people who have experienced the trauma of domestic abuse.
