Residents at The Orchards Residential Home enjoyed an afternoon of music, dressing up and dancing when the home hosted its very first silent disco.
The unusual activity at the Wroughton care home proved to be a surprise hit, with residents donning headphones to listen to their favourite tunes while enjoying the chance to dress up and have some fun.
Unlike a traditional disco, a silent disco allows everyone to listen to music through wireless headphones, creating a rather unusual sight for anyone watching, with people dancing and singing along to music that nobody else can hear.
The event was organised with the help of Natalie, the home's Activities Coordinator, and entertainment provider Sweet Silent Disco.
Although the team initially wondered whether the activity would appeal to residents, any doubts were soon put to rest.
Following the event, Natalie chatted with residents to find out what they thought of the experience, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. In fact, residents enjoyed themselves so much that they agreed they'd love to do it all again.
A spokesperson for The Orchards Residential Home, part of the family-run Buckland Care group, said: "I'll happily admit I wasn't sure whether our residents would enjoy a silent disco, but how wrong I was!
"Everyone had such a lovely time dressing up, listening to music and joining in the fun. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying something a little different.
"Natalie chatted with residents afterwards, and the verdict was unanimous. They all want another silent disco!
"A big thank you to Sweet Silent Disco for bringing something so much fun to our home. We'll definitely be inviting them back."
