SSGC has been certified as a disability-confident employer by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), recognising its commitment to making the most of the talents people with disabilities can bring to a workplace.

The DWP’s disability confident scheme aims to help employers successfully recruit and retrain people with disabilities and health conditions.

As part of its certification, SSGC has pledged to ensure its recruitment processes are inclusive and accessible, and that it will actively promote vacancies and offer interviews to people with disabilities.

The business has also committed to implement procedures to provide adjustments for its entire workforce, whether they are new starters or existing staff members who have become disabled or developed a long-term health condition.

David Stubbs, CEO of SSGC, said: “As a business we have always been committed to workplace diversity and have always gone above and beyond to provide equal opportunities to all potential candidates.

“Our dedication to social value has been rubber-stamped by awards for several initiatives, including our commitment to the veteran community and helping those battling complex post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) secure long-term employment post-deployment.

“We are delighted to join businesses around the country in leading the way in changing attitudes for the better and look forward to attracting the widest pool of talent possible now we have received this certification.”

In 2020, SSGC was deployed to monitor and marshal the Government’s covid-19 testing sites on behalf of Serco and the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC).

The business recruited more than 500 struggling veterans, providing them with long-term employment at 156 testing centres and 109 mobile testing units.
