The team at the Amazon fulfilment centre in Swindon have made a £500 donation to the popular local village hall in Wanborough.
Wanborough Village Hall can be found on the high street in the village of Wanborough, in Swindon.
The community hub is said to be popular amongst village residents and is used regularly for events including club meetings, children's parties and movie and quiz nights.
The donation from Amazon in Swindon will be going towards providing a dedicated storage shed for the 1st Wanborough Scout Group - who use the hall for their weekly Beavers, Cub and Scout meetings.
The donation from Amazon Swindon was made following a visit from the 1st Wanborough Beaver Colony, who were taken on a tour of the site.
David Tindal, General Manager at Amazon in Swindon, said: “Wanborough Village Hall provides the village of Wanborough with a great space to host a range of functions throughout the year. We are pleased to help a key user group of the hall with this donation.”
Mariana Sandu, an employee from Amazon in Swindon who lives in Wanborough, said: “I have attended many events and programmes in Wanborough Village Hall over the years. It is such a well-loved community hub for our village, providing a great space for clubs for young people; this donation will be gratefully received.”
James Jefferd, from 1st Wanborough Scout Group, added: “Thank you to David and the Swindon Amazon team for this donation. The Scout Group volunteers work hard to run a good quality programme for our 6–14-year-olds. This donation will be a great help to us as we continue to ensure we have sufficient clean and dry storage space for our resources.”
The donation to Wanborough Village Hall was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK.
Amazon says it is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than six million healthy breakfasts to families in England.
