White Lodge Care Home in Braydon has been crowned Team of the Yearfor the Central West Division in the Barchester Care Awards 2026 and is through to the national round of judging.
The Barchester Care Awards celebrate the staff and teams who go the extra mile for the benefit of the 14,000 residents living in Barchester’s 271 care homes and private hospitals across the country.
Categories include Team of the Year, Registered Nurse of the Year, Carer of the Year, Dementia Care Champion and Activities Coordinator of the Year.
Almost 6,000 nominations were received from homes and hospitals across the UK. Organisers said all entries were of a very high standard, and the White Lodge team are delighted to have been named the winner for the Central West division, beating hundreds of other nominees.
The team has continued to go above and beyond to provide meaningful experiences for residents, from engaging activities and entertainment to community events, family involvement and trips outside home.
The whole home approach is centred around understanding each resident as an individual and helping them continue to enjoy the things that matter most to them.
As the winner for Central West, White Lodge Care Home is through to the national finals in which the overall winner is decided.
The team will join winners from across the UK at a special awards event in October to celebrate their outstanding achievements and discover if they have won a national award.

White Lodge Care Home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals.
The home provides nursing, residential and dementia care.
