Swindon-based financial giant Zurich UK is offering 250 virtual work experience (VWEX) spaces to people aged 16 to 19 on 17 and 18 July.
Successful candidates, the firm says, will experience the many roles and business areas on offer at Zurich UK whilst gaining skills in communications, problem solving, resilience, leadership, and teamwork.
The scheme is billed as an ideal opportunity for young people to experience the world of insurance and discover more about what roles are available.
By hearing directly from industry professionals and those early in their careers, the 2025 cohort will take away insights into the varied and interesting work that goes on in a 5,000-strong multinational business.
Due to its virtual design, candidates can take part remotely from anywhere in the UK. VWEX is becoming increasingly popular as a means of offering valuable work experience to young people, improving social mobility, workforce diversity, and ensuring a more equitable hiring pipeline by removing location and cost barriers.
Michelle Ransome, Talent Acquisition Manager for Zurich UK, said: “From cost-related barriers to travel challenges, in-person work experience just isn’t possible for some students.
"By offering out virtual work experience a level-playing field is created, allowing students from across the UK a chance experience what life is like at Zurich and what a career in insurance could look like.
“Virtual work experience still allows students a realistic insight into the business and gives them a chance to hone their skills and get them excited about the start of their careers.”
Applicants should be made here. The closing date for applications is midnight 30th May 2025.
