David Wilson Redrow South West has released a limited number of shared ownership homes at Buckley Gardens in Melksham that give buyers the chance to get on the property ladder with just a five per cent deposit.
The two and three bedroom properties are available through the Home Reach Shared Ownership scheme, designed to make buying a property more accessible.
Under the scheme, buyers purchase up to 75% of the new build property and pay rent on the remainder. The shared ownership provider, Heylo Housing, grants a lease as landlord, and buyers have the option to increase their share through ‘staircasing’, eventually working towards owning their home outright.
Two properties have been released for sale under the Home Reach Shared Ownership scheme where for a 50% share, the two bedroom Oakmoor and the three bedroom Birchmoor are priced at £145,000 and £170,000 respectively (eligibility criteria applies and potential buyers should speak to the sales adviser at Buckley Gardens for more details).
Louise Ware, sales director for David Wilson Redrow South West, said: “Our aim is to make home ownership more achievable, helping buyers get started with just a five per cent deposit. We want people to feel empowered to make their home their own – whether that’s through decorating or owning pets. This scheme offers great flexibility as it gives buyers the option to increase their ownership over time, or move on when it suits them, without the need to purchase the full property upfront.”
As well as lowering the upfront cost of buying, new build homes at Buckley Gardens also help reduce the ongoing cost of living. Latest government figures show that 85% of brand-new homes in England and Wales achieve the top EPC ratings of A or B, and homes here are estimated to save homeowners up to £2,200 a year on running costs – making them 63% cheaper to run compared to an older property.
Properties at Buckley Gardens also include the latest water and energy-saving technologies, which could reduce consumption by up to 26% per day per person, such as:
- An energy-efficient boiler that reuses heat to cut energy use
- A system that recycles warmth from bath and shower water to reduce heating costs
- Solar panels to help generate electricity for the home
- Ventilation systems that improve air quality while reducing damp and condensation
- An electric vehicle charging point for added convenience
- High-performance double glazing to keep homes warmer in winter and cooler in summer
- Modern insulation to minimise heat loss and lower bills
Located between the A350 and Semington Road to the north of the Hampton Park commercial area, Buckley Gardens is close to the Kennett & Avon Canal, surrounded by seven acres of open space, and will include ponds, a play area and more than 100 new trees. It’s within walking distance of pubs and cafes and Melksham town centre is around a five-minute drive away. The
M4 is less than 25 minutes away for easy access to cities and towns such as Bath, Bristol and Swindon.
