Thames Water has moved up 21 places in the annual RateMyApprenticeship best employer rankings.
The 2023/2024 survey, which falls under RMP Enterprise, ranks the best 100 companies out of 700 across the country and has seen Thames Water placed 71st, a ranking voted by the apprentices themselves.
As part of its Skills Strategy, Thames Water has invested in expanding its apprenticeships programme to align with its business needs, effectively addressing and bridging any skills gaps.
The company has established an Apprenticeship and Graduate community group to enhance engagement, provide more networking opportunities and increase peer support among the new company starters.
Since the start of 2023 over 80 colleagues have started an apprenticeship with Thames Water, 51 of whom joined the business externally on 4 September, alongside 11 graduates.
Sam Palmer, Level 6 project manager degree apprentice, said: “It has been a great opportunity to work on my apprenticeship with Thames Water where I have felt supported and championed by those around me.
"My apprenticeship has made a huge impact on my development by doing on-the-job training and studying at the same time.
"It has given me the best of both worlds, enabling me to gain a qualification while earning a living, and in an industry which provides essential services every day.
“I’d highly recommend an apprenticeship in the water industry as it’s a great way to build your confidence and learn new skills.”

News of this, follows on from recent successes including Thames Water being placed 17th for ‘best employer in the Job Crowd’ apprenticeships table and in 39th position in the ‘best employer for graduates’ list.
