Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses after an incident of criminal damage in Swindon where an elderly man had the tyres of two of his cars deliberately punctured.
The vehicles were parked in the driveway of a property in the Taw Hill area when they were targeted at around 10.50pm last Monday night (18/05).
CCTV footage, attached to this release, shows a man carrying a white carrier bag containing what appears to be an electric screwdriver or similar tool. He then uses this to puncture four tyres on two vehicles.
The suspect is described as a white man, wearing a dark hooded top, dark bottoms and lighter coloured trainers.
Sergeant Penny Sprawson, from Swindon Community Policing Team, said: “The footage shows that this damage was caused maliciously and deliberately, and the owner of the cars – an RAF veteran in his 80s – has been left shaken and frustrated by the incident.
“This is a targeted incident and financial implications aside, is deeply concerning for the owners.
“We know this CCTV footage doesn’t show the suspect’s face, but we are hoping that it will prompt anyone who knows anything about this incident to come forward. If you know someone matching this description who you believe was in the area at the time, then please let us know.
“We would also like to encourage local residents to check their CCTV, camera doorbells or vehicle dashcam during this timeframe for anything relevant and to come forward with this information.
“We are appealing for residents in the following locations: Waterdown Close, Exmoor Close, Ashdown Way, Cranbourne Chase and Clary Road in Haydon Wick.”
Anyone with information should call Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting crime reference 54200046958. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
