A couple have set themselves a gruelling challenge in aid of the Swindon Bats charity.
Swindon Bats is a sports and social club for people with visually impairments, and works to promote the physical and mental wellbeing to those facing sight loss.
During the Summer of 2023 chairperson Becky Harrison and husband Uan raised £2,000 for the organisation with a personal Salt Path Challenge, covering 54 miles along the coastal path from Weston-super-Mare to Minehead in 18 hours over four days.
This year they are planning on racing across the South West to get from Penzance in Cornwall back to Swindon in only days using nothing but their own feet and Becky's disabled person's bs pass.
Becky said: "Think BBCs Race Across The World but on The UK Buses!
"For many blind and visually impaired people in particular, a Concessionary/Disabled bus pass is a lifeline and can give individuals a route out of isolation.
"So with this in mind me - I'm registered severely sight impaired/blind - and my sighted husband Uan will be taking on the mammoth challenge of navigating through five counties - Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bath and NE Somerset and Wiltshire - in a race to get back home in just five days!
"We will start our journey by catching a train to Penzance setting off on a Tuesday morning to return by Saturday. With no overnight accommodation booked we will need to find accommodation or take our chances with some wild camping along the way!"
