Swindon Big Knit has brought a much-loved charity icon to life after knitting 300 yellow squares and transforming them into a life-size Pudsey Bear to raise money for BBC Children in Need.
The giant knitted Pudsey will make his first public appearance at the TGV Community Market at The Strawberry Thief pub in Tadpole Garden Village on Sunday 1 November, where members of the community are invited to come along, meet Pudsey and have their photograph taken with him.
The project has brought together the creativity, time and generosity of 35 plus knitters from the Swindon Big Knit who have worked collectively to create this unique and eye-catching Pudsey.
Swindon Big Knit plans to take Pudsey out into the community over the coming weeks, giving people plenty of opportunities to see him, take photos and, most importantly, help raise funds for the wonderful work of BBC Children in Need.
A spokesperson said: “We’re delighted with how our life-size Pudsey has turned out. It has taken 300 yellow knitted squares and lots of time, enthusiasm and community spirit to bring him to life.
"We hope people will enjoy meeting Pudsey, taking a photo with him and helping us raise as much as possible for such a fantastic cause.”
Swindon Big Knit is a volunteer craft group creating handmade hats, blankets, jumpers, chocolate orange cosies and now giant Pudsey Bears.
