A Swindon charity, which provides free breakfasts and unlimited refills of hot drinks for those in need, has received a financial boost this week.
Big Breakfast Plus offers local people the opportunity to eat a hot morning meal, whilst meeting and socialising in warm and inviting surroundings. The charity needs to raise at least £1,500 a month to cover the cost of breakfasts and has turned to Swindon’s Bus Company’s community fund for some additional support.
Larnie Perrett from Big Breakfast Plus said: “Our work would not be possible without the generosity of our funders and supporters. We made an approach to Swindon’s Bus Company and were delighted to receive £350 towards supplies for next month. I’d like to thank them for their donation, which will be put to very good use.”
Big Breakfast Plus also provides signposting to a variety of local support services, including housing, welfare, and addiction assistance. Representatives from various agencies attend to offer help and support in a relaxed environment.
Andrew Sherrington, Swindon’s Bus Company General Manager, said: “This is a wonderful charity, providing simple hospitality with the emphasis on dignity and offering a menu choice in a space that is just a regular cafe. The only difference is that no money changes hands.
“It’s exactly the sort of local worthy cause our community fund is designed to support, and we’re pleased to be able to help.”
