NHS charity, Brighter Futures, raises money to enhance care at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Swindon, Wiltshire.

Its Dementia Appeal helps to provide support for individuals living with dementia.

The £500 donation from the McCarthy Stone Foundation will help Brighter Futures install 12 dementia-friendly clocks throughout the Great Western Hospital.

The clocks aim to help patients’ orientation to time and place by displaying dates and numbers on a highly visible face, and often featuring LED digital displays.

Jane Leighton, Major Gifts Manager at Brighter Futures, said: “We’re really grateful for the donation from the McCarthy Stone Foundation. The funding will enable us to improve the environment for patients living with dementia at the Great Western Hospital. We would like to say a huge thank you to the McCarthy Stone Foundation for their support.”

The McCarthy Stone Foundation is the independent, registered charity of the UK’s leading developer and manager of retirement communities, McCarthy Stone - which has a new development in Swindon, Gilbert Place on Lowry Way.

It aims to build long-term partnerships with charities and organisations who support the wellbeing of older people, the educational needs of young people and the urban regeneration of communities by providing financial grants, volunteers, and other resources.

Graeme Marsh, Foundation Manager at the McCarthy Stone Foundation, said: “The Great Western Hospital in Swindon is an important pillar of the local community, and we realise just how important the work of Brighter Futures is for the hospital. We’re delighted to be able to aid the amazing efforts of those working at the organisation and wish them the best of luck in their continued work.”
