Swindon’s Bus Company is throwing its support behind Prospect Hospice by naming the charity as its official good cause for 2024 and 2025.

The bus operator will spend the next two years raising funds and awareness to help the hospice provide care and support for local people with life-limiting illnesses, and their loved ones.

Since 1980, Prospect Hospice has provided the only dedicated end-of-life care service for people living in Swindon, Marlborough and north east Wiltshire - bringing care, comfort and confidence, around the clock, every day of the year.

“The hospice is a crucial local resource,” said Swindon’s Bus Company operations manager Paul Coyne.

“It does incredible work to help create the best possible experience for patients and their families, at a desperately difficult and challenging time in their lives.

“Our corporate charity is voted for by the Swindon’s Bus Company team. Many of my colleagues have benefited directly from the support Prospect provides, so we are delighted to be backing this very worthy cause, and raising as much money as possible over the coming years.”

Swindon’s Bus Company has a busy calendar of fundraising planned, and is also promoting the charity on-board and on the rear of a bus.

Mr Coyne added: “Hopefully, the messages will be seen by thousands traveling across the region - and this will help increase awareness for this very worthy cause.”

Sheryl Crouch, head of income at Prospect Hospice, said: “We’re delighted to have been chosen by the team at Swindon’s Bus Company to be their corporate charity for 2024 and 2025.

"Over the next two years, we know that the demand for our services is going to increase as more local people need our specialist end-of-life care and we want to be able to care for as many of those as we possibly can.

"We’re only able to do that thanks to the generous support of our local community. Therefore, the support of  Swindon’s Bus Company and their customers means a great deal to us, our patients and their families.

"We look forward to working with everyone over the next two years to help spread the word about the work we do to support our community at what can be an incredibly difficult time – and also have some fun raising vital funds at the same time.”
