Cafe Mobility - Swindon's new charity cafe to help Shopmobility and homeless members of the community - has opened up in the town centre.
Café Mobility is located next to Shopmobility in the Sanford House car park off College Street, just beyond the top of the slope next to Tesco Metro.
It is open from 8.30am-3.00pm Monday - Friday.
The Café, with a fully accessible and covered outdoor seating space (which will include patio heaters in the colder weather), is offering a range of value for money hot and cold food, drinks, snacks including ice creams.
This includes serving ‘Change Please’ bean to cup coffee – and 100% of Change Please profits go towards helping people experiencing homelessness.
Café Mobility is also minimising its use of plastic to be as environmentally friendly as possible which includes using fully compostable cups, lids and plates.
All profits from Café Mobility will help Voluntary Action Swindon sustain the vital Swindon Shopmobility service enabling people with mobility issues to access town centre services independently.
The Swindon Shopmobility service offers a range of mobility scooters, power wheelchairs for daily hire as well as manual wheelchairs for short or longer-term hire.
Pam Webb, CEO of Voluntary Action Swindon said: “We are proud to launch Café Mobility, a welcoming outdoor Café with a heart in the town centre. Where else could you pick up a delicious 12oz bean to cup latte for just £2 which not only tastes fantastic but will help to sustain the vital Swindon Shopmobility service as well as help people experiencing homelessness – it really is a win win.
"We would like to thank the National Lottery for a grant that helped us get this project off the ground and Tesco Metro in the town centre who are supporting us with donated supplies.”
