A woman who lost her son to suicide is planning her third annual fundraising walk in aid of suicide prevention charity CALM.
Tracey Boxall's son, Alex, was 19 when he took his own life in 2019.
Last year's walk saw Tracey and a team of more than 20 people tackle a 20-mile sponsored walk in aid of the charity.
CALM stands for Campaign Against Living Miserably, and the charity helps people affected by suicide or suicidal thoughts, together with people facing mental health issues.
Since 2019 it has run an annual fundraising event called The Lost Hours Walk, which usually takes place in late October to coincide with the clocks changing and the country experiencing a 'lost hour.'
This year, Tracey's walk will be held on Saturday, 28 October, starting from Grange Park at 9am and ending at Lydiard Park, and full details of the route and how to donate can be found at https://www.lost-hours.co.uk/fundraising/tracey-fundraising-page2023
Tracey explains on her fundraising page: "We are walking for those who can no longer walk with us and those who are have been in a difficult place themselves who have felt like they have no where to turn.
"Losing someone to suicide whether it be your friend, brother, sister, son, daughter, mum, dad, auntie or uncle, nieces, nephews and grandparents, they all deserved to be heard. Our aim is to get more people to talk, communicate, and know there is always help out there available, no matter how dark it may feel, there is always going to be a light at the end of the tunnel.
"After an incredible turn out last year, we are walking again. We are aiming to be bigger and better than before. Starting this walk in 2021 with a small group of 8 friends, we pushed bigger and better in 2022, gaining a whopping 25 people. This year I (Alex’s mum) turned 50 years old."My aim was to double the extent of people walking and spreading awareness. We have achieved just that."
