Local hospice opens new shop in Cavendish Square

The wait is over and the excitement is palpable as a local charity celebrated the grand opening of its latest shop in the heart of Cavendish Square on Tuesday 15 August.

The ribbon was cut just after 11am, with a crowd of supporters, charity staff, volunteers and VIP guests watching as Prospect Hospice’s chief executive, Jeremy Lune, led the proceedings.

Jeremy Lune, CEO at Prospect Hospice shared: “Cavendish Square has a really strong community and we’re proud to be part of it, both in delivering our outstanding care to people here and now opening this new shop. We were delighted that on opening day so many people came to welcome us, bringing donations for us to sell and buying from us to support further care of local people.”

The Cavendish Square shop boasts an impressive selection of pre-loved treasures, vintage gems and stylish furniture that cater to everyone. From chic fashion to unique home decor pieces, the newest Prospect Hospice shop brings together a carefully curated collection that rivals any high street shop. Here, savvy shoppers can unearth hidden treasures and items that tell stories of their own, all while supporting the charity.

One happy customer was Sharon Motture who was one of the first supporters into the new shop. “The shop looks amazing and it will definitely be a great addition to the area.” said Sharon. “There is a fantastic variety of good-quality items. I managed to pick up a lovely top, bag and jigsaw all for under £10.”

"The opening of our new shop in Cavendish Square is a testament to the unwavering support we receive from our incredible community,” shared Victoria Canavan, head of retail at Prospect Hospice. “We are thrilled to bring this shopping experience to our supporters, where they can indulge their passion for fashion sustainably while knowing they are directly contributing to providing outstanding end of life care and support to our patients and their families.”

There were some VIP guests attending the opening including Sinéad Nolan-Martin, wife of Harry Martin, who was cared for and supported by the hospice at the end of his life, Sir Robert Buckland and actor Paul Cooper, known for playing Martin Mucklowe in ‘This Country’.

“It’s a pleasure to be here today to support the opening of this fantastic new charity shop." said Paul Cooper. "Prospect Hospice makes a difference to people’s lives every single day and by the community visiting their shops, they’re helping the charity to continue to do so.”

Prospect Hospice invites everyone to visit the new shop and experience the thrill of giving back while finding one-of-a-kind treasures.

The shop can take good quality donations during opening hours, with staff and volunteers inside ready to help. The charity also offers free furniture collections if you have any large household items which you would like to donate.

You can find the new shop at Unit 5 Cavendish Square, Swindon, SN3 2DG and its opening hours are Monday to Saturday 9am to 4.30pm, Sunday 10am to 4pm.
