David Wilson Homes Southern has raised an impressive £50,000 in total for its chosen charity of the year, Swindon-based Prospect Hospice.
A cheque totalling £50,790 was presented to the charity to mark the fundraising efforts of the division and will now go towards supporting people with life-limiting illnesses.
A charity sports dinner was hosted recently at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre, Madejski Stadium in Reading to raise money for the cause. Attendees included former professional rugby players Neil Back, Simon Shaw and Zinzan Brooke.
Staff at David Wilson Homes Southern have also been working hard to raise vital funds throughout the year with a dress down day and various in-house raffles and are delighted with the sum raised.
This total includes the £15,000 donation by parent company Barratt Developments.
Paul Crispin, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “We are delighted to announce that we have managed to raise £50,000 for our charity of the year, Prospect Hospice.
“As a leading housebuilder we understand the importance of supporting charities and communities and strive to give back wherever we can. It is a pleasure to be able to support the vital work being carried out by the charity and the work they do is very admirable.
“Prospect Hospice was chosen as our charity of the year in January and since then our staff have been working to raise funds for the cause, with the main event being a sports charity dinner.”
Head of Fundraising at Prospect Hospice, Sheryl Crouch said: “We are extremely grateful for this incredible donation and would like to thank everyone at David Wilson Homes’ Southern office for choosing Prospect Hospice to benefit from their fundraising throughout 2018.
“With over £6million to raise each year, support from organisations and individuals in the local community plays a vital part in enabling us to continue to care for and support the 7,300 patients and family members when they need us most.
“We are always looking for opportunities to work with local organisations so this partnership has been a very welcome one and we hope the generosity of David Wilson Homes will encourage other local organisations to work with us in the future.”
