Marlborough Running Club is planning to take on the challenge of running the full length of the Wiltshire Cycleway for Prospect Hospice.

Runners from the club will set off from Marlborough High Street on Saturday 13 July and will run as a relay around the county – 160 miles of minor roads and lanes.

The route will take runners through Broad Hinton, Malmesbury, Corsham and on to Bradford-on-Avon. From there the run will head to Longleat (avoiding the lions!), Salisbury, Amesbury, north to Great Bedwyn and back to finish in Marlborough - sometime on the Sunday.

Phil Griffiths, a Marlborough Running Club member, said: “We all know someone who has a family member or close friend who has been cared for by Prospect.

"We hope our run will help to ensure that the hospice remains available to all of us in this part of Wiltshire. Caring for people facing the end of life is such a vital service; running is the easy bit.”

Jeremy Lune, CEO at the Wroughton-based charity, said: “Every year Prospect Hospice supports hundreds of families across Swindon and the surrounding areas who are going through one of life’s hardest journeys. We want to be there to care for each and every person with a life-limiting illness who needs us.”

“That is why we are so grateful to Marlborough Running Club for all the hard work they are putting in to organising this event. The funds raised help Prospect Hospice to make a huge difference to the lives of hundreds of people and their loved ones every day. Thank you runners!”

The money the club raises will go towards Prospect Hospice’s vital services, such as the charity’s inpatient unit and Prospect@Home care service.
