Swindon Night Shelter, a community lifeline for Swindon’s homeless and those struggling with food insecurity, is actively seeking new trustees to join its Board of Trustees.

As the demand for the services grows, the charity are reaching out to compassionate and committed individuals to help shape their future, oversee development, and ensure continued support for some of the community’s most vulnerable members.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “We provide emergency accommodation on a referral basis, offering 13 beds that are almost always full, reflecting the urgent need within our community. Our Day Haven drop-in service is a lifeline for those who are rough sleeping, sofa surfing, or otherwise vulnerable – offering a warm, nutritious breakfast and lunch, along with signposting to housing support and other vital services. In addition, our network of food pantries across Swindon supports more than 500 individuals each week, helping to ease food insecurity with dignity and compassion.

“As we look to the future, we are seeking compassionate, committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees. Our trustees play a vital role in shaping our vision, supporting sustainable growth, and ensuring we continue to provide both immediate relief and long-term solutions for those affected by homelessness and poverty. We particularly welcome applicants with expertise in finance and accounting, information technology, property or estate law, and human resources.”

If you or someone you know is interested in joining the Board of Trustees and making a meaningful impact within the community, please contact Tanya Stead at [email protected] or leave a message at 01793 613166.

Your involvement could be the difference between someone having access to a warm meal, a safe place to sleep, and a hopeful path forward.
