After closing due to the pandemic, the Prospect Hospice are now ready to open the 'Heart of Hospice' cafe to members of the Swindon public.
The Heart of the Hospice café will re-open to the public on Wednesday 14 September ,and will serve a variety of hot and cold meals and drinks.
The cafe will be open from Monday to Saturday between 11.30am and 2pm.
When lockdown was enforced on the country back in March 2020, the hospice closed its doors to the public to ensure they could protect their staff and patients while they continued to deliver essential end of life care both in the hospice and in people’s homes.
The hospice says it is now ready to welcome people back to its popular café.
Catering manager, Carl Golding, said: “We know the Heart of the Hospice café was a big hit with the community looking for a good home cooked meal, giving them the opportunity to support a local charity at the same time.
“I’m delighted that we are ready to reopen and we have a refreshed menu that’s regularly updated so there’s always something different to try.
“The hospice is all about its people and there’s been a little something missing since our community hasn’t been able to come in and enjoy lunch with us so I’m really excited about welcoming them all back.”
The Heart of the Hospice is based in Prospect Hospice on Moormead Road in Wroughton. The café will also serve teas, coffees, soft drinks and sweet treats.
All proceeds from the sale of food and drink goes straight back into the charity to help care for local people with a terminal illness.
The café is manned by volunteers who dedicate their time to ensuring customers are served. The Prospect Hospice team say they are also always looking for more people to help out.
Individuals that have a few hours to spare each week and would like to join the friendly café team serving customers, can get in touch with the hospice via [email protected] or by calling 01793 816193.
