Prospect Hospice opened its doors for a very special event in recognition of Global Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Awareness Month.

Held at the hospice in Wroughton, the afternoon brought together patients living with MND and their loved ones for a joyful and uplifting celebration of togetherness, courage and community.
Guests were treated to a traditional afternoon tea served in the welcoming surroundings of the hospice café and gardens. The event featured moving live music performances, including a heartfelt appearance by the Voices of Hope Choir, whose powerful songs resonated deeply with all who attended.
Dorinda Moffat, MND and Neurorespiratory Specialist Practitioner at Prospect Hospice, said: “It was a privilege to spend this afternoon with so many wonderful people whose lives are touched by MND.
"This event was about connection—offering moments of joy and reflection, while also raising awareness of the challenges faced by those living with the disease. The strength and warmth in the room was truly inspiring.”
The event was designed not only to honour those living with MND, but also to create space for families and carers to come together in a supportive environment.
One of those who attended summed up the mood: “It meant so much to us to be here today. We don’t often get the chance to meet others who understand what we’re going through.
"It was such a beautiful, uplifting afternoon—one we’ll remember for a long time.”
Global MND Awareness Month is observed each June to shine a light on the experiences of those living with motor neurone disease and to encourage support for vital care and research.
