Sir Robert Buckland has met Mountain Warehouse's CEO to thank him for his support of the Wiltshire Turkish Community, following the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Northern Syria.
Sir Robert contacted Mark Neale, Founder and Chief Executive of Mountain Warehouse back in February when he was assisting the Wiltshire Turkish Community with their relief efforts.
The community group had made an urgent request for winter tents.
Mountain Warehouse were said to have been very quick to respond and donated a day’s profits from sales at all 264 stores, as well as profits from all online sales to the DEC campaign for the earthquake.
Mr Buckland commented: “It was great to meet Mark in Westminster and thank him personally for his support on behalf of the Wiltshire Turkish Community here in Swindon.
“Swindon has led the way for Mark and Mountain Warehouse, where the very first store was opened here in the town back in 1997.
“Twenty-five years later, Mountain Warehouse now has 264 stores around the globe, including in Europe, the United States, Canada, and New Zealand, with over 5 million customers.
“It was great to learn more about the business and I am delighted that Mark remains firmly committed to having a store here in Swindon, where it all began.”
