Children’s bereavement charity Wiltshire Treehouse is reaching out to the community to ask for volunteers.
The charity helps over 300 grieving children a year and volunteers are needed to help run more bereavement groups in Swindon and Trowbridge.
Service Director Kath Brownlee said: “We have a brilliant team of volunteers. They come from all walks of life and are committed to helping children who are often deeply sad, confused or anxious because someone special to them has died.
"This year the charity wants to expand and help even more children, but they need more volunteers to do this."
People may feel daunted at the prospect of volunteering with a bereavement service but Darci McGuffog, a volunteer for the charity, wants to reassure people that the work can be fun as well as emotional.
She said: “We help the children take part in a range of games and activities. My favourite is the felting because we ask the children to pick colours that remind them of the person who has died, and it’s lovely to hear them talking about their memories.”
