TWIGS Community Garden Wiltshire has received a grant of £3,887 from the Community Garden Award Scheme.
The community garden, based at Manor Garden Centre in Cheney Manor, provides a therapeutic environment in which people experiencing mental health issues can gain new skills and confidence through activities including gardening, conservation and crafts.
The award ceremony took place on Sunday 21 July during the National Garden Scheme, Garden Open Day.
The award was presented to Allan Holland from TWIGS by Ros Ford, County Organiser for the National Garden Scheme in Wiltshire, alongside Andy Devey, also from the National Garden Centre.
A spokesperson said: “The grant will be used to design and build a new garden space that all people struggling with mental health can focus on the positive benefits of growing and tending plants.
“The garden will also be used to work with people experiencing grief and depression resulting from bereavement issues.”
