A hard-working volunteer has added his voice to Swindon Borough Council's call for people with spare time to seek out opportunities.
Whether a person wants to make a new friend, support a neighbour or give back to their community, there are many volunteering opportunities across the borough.
Current volunteers include Getachew, pictured, who is currently being supported by The Harbour Project in Swindon.
Getachew, who is from Ethiopia, has been volunteering for Prospect Hospice as a furniture collector in their new Furniture & Home store in Hobley Drive, Stratton.
Once a week he goes out with driver Chris to deliver and collect furniture donations from kind people in the local community.
He said: "It’s the least I can do to help such a worthy cause, and I get great satisfaction knowing that my lifting and carrying is helping Prospect Hospice care for patients."
Those who can spare a couple of hours, days or weeks are asked to get in touch by emailing [email protected] to find out what volunteering opportunities are available, or visit Voluntary Action Swindon's recruitment fair on Tuesday, 14 January at the Swindon Hub (SN1 1BA) from 10am to 2pm.
