Conservationist 'Crocodile Joe' snapped up much attention today as he, and some scaly associates, visited Swindon's Designer Outlet.

Crocodile Joe said: “All children deserve a chance to learn and develop as individuals, to understand the world and to respect everything that lives in it.”

Joe's impressive career has been highly noted on television, which includes appearances on 'Animal Planet', 'Animal 24/7', CBBC's 'The Prank Patrol', and 'The Paul O'Grady Show'.

In celebration of outdoor clothing brand Craghoppers’ one year anniversary in the Outlet, Joe and co gave some wonderful insights into the world of reptiles and conservation.

With a hands-on attitude, Joe enabled children to engage with the importance of wildlife conservation highlighted through personal anecdotes from his adventures in Australia, and every day props like plastic shopping bags which saw the end of his beloved crocodile friend Spartacus.

Craghoppers Outlet Store Manager, Adam Whelan, said: “Joe’s an absolutely lovely guy, really knows his stuff. And, as you can see, he’s great with the kids.”

As part of the celebration Craghoppers are offering various discounts on a range of their products, but the event was so much more.

Adam said: “It’s all about the family, enjoying life, and being protected.”

As sported by Crocodile Joe himself, Craghoppers’ clothing range is a unique and comfortable design to protect people against outdoor threats.

Adam added: “It’s basically all about conservation as the clothes are recycled from various products such as water bottles. It’s fashionable, but there’s a reason for each aspect of fabric.”

The fabric Adam refers to is known as NosiLife which has been specifically designed to protect the wearer from mosquito bites (which can lead to diseases such as echo virus) and exposure to the sun.

Bear Grylls is also a sponsor of Craghoppers. Whilst gallivanting around the wilderness, and our TVs, Bear opts for Craghoppers protective clothing range, and even has his own clothing brand available from the store.

After Crocodile Joe’s conservationist talks, which included how to run safely away from crocodiles, he introduced some of his friends which included a tarantula, lizard, and python.

The Outlet’s Store Manager, Tina Cumpstui, said: “It’s a great event for kids, loads of fun. It’s also got an educational approach and message.”

Adam added: “I was nervous no one would show up! But it’s been a very unique experience, I’m very pleased with the turnout.”
