Students across Swindon are taking the next step towards their futures as A-Level and T-Level results reveal another year of excellent achievement across the borough.
Aliyah Dirisu (English Literature – A*, History – A, Psychology – A*, EPQ – A*) will read Law at Cardiff University
Jesael Parmaku (Computer Science – A*, Mathematics – A, Physics – A) will read Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bristol
A total of 1,128 students completed A-Levels in Swindon this summer, alongside 454 students who achieved qualifications through T-Levels.
The borough recorded an overall pass rate of 95.4 per cent (grades A* to E), an increase of 0.3 per cent on last year, while 37.8 per cent (up 0.6 per cent on last year) of entries were awarded top grades of A* to B.
The figures also include results achieved by local students attending Cirencester College.
Councillor Kate Tomlinson, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Education, said: “I’m delighted to congratulate every student receiving their A-Level and T-Level results today. Their success reflects years of hard work, commitment and perseverance
“These achievements demonstrate the high aspirations of young people across Swindon and the excellent support provided by families, teachers and school communities.
“Whether you’re heading to university, starting an apprenticeship or beginning work, you take with you the skills and confidence to succeed.
"Today we celebrate not only their results, but the bright future they are helping to build for themselves and for Swindon.”
Schools across the borough are celebrating strong outcomes, including at Lydiard Park Academy Sixth Form, where students achieved a 100 per cent pass rate across all academic and vocational qualifications.
The academy also reported that 76 per cent of grades were awarded at A* to C, while 63 per cent of vocational grades achieved Distinction or Distinction*.
Students are now progressing to a range of destinations including Cardiff University, the University of Bristol, the University of Reading and the University of Gloucestershire, as well as apprenticeships and employment.
