Staff at Croft Playgroup will be celebrating 50 years of nurturing children within the community next month.
Croft Playgroup was first established in 1972 and is a charity-led organisation which is jointly managed by a committee of parents.
Fifty years on since its opening, the playgroup is still thriving in the local community giving three and four-year-old children, the chance to learn through play.
Croft Playgroup will be holding its semicentennial birthday celebration on Saturday 14 May, from 10am - 11:30am to celebrate being established for 50 years.
Managers Michelle and Helen said: "We are very proud to play a part in Croft Playgroup’s history. Facilities like ours are vitally important to parents, carers, children and the next generation in providing them with opportunities to play, learn and grow in a wonderful environment. We think the fact that we’ve been around for half a century really goes to show just how much we are valued by our local community.
"As well as our current little ones, there are so many generations of people locally who have fond memories of Croft Playgroup and who have supported us over the years. We want to thank everyone who has been a part of our history and welcome those whose children will share our future."
Everyone is welcome to join the Croft Playgroup team for their birthday celebration. The playgroup is located on Marlborough Lane in Swindon (SN3 1RA).
Staff will be holding a raffle as well as some activities for the children. Refreshments and cakes will also be available. The team say the event will also provide the public with the perfect chance to see how Croft Playgroup has grown over the years.
Croft Playgroup staff would like to hear from children, parents, staff and committee members who have been part of the playgroup for the past half-century.
