Parents and pupils are being invited to meet the new Executive Principal, Mr Jon Young, at The Deanery Church of England Academy’s open evening on Thursday 26 September.
The event takes place between 5pm and 7pm. Teaching staff and the leadership team will be available to answer questions, with presentations at 5:15 pm and 6:00 pm from Executive Principal Mr Young, on the excellent opportunities The Deanery has to offer students and families.
Parents of prospective pupils in years 5 and 6, will be able to have a tour of the school and see classrooms, displays of work, resources and equipment. There will be various activities that children can take part in to get a feel for life at The Deanery. Pupil ambassadors will be on hand to talk about all that The Deanery has to offer and demonstrate examples of their work.
Jon Young, Executive Principal, The Deanery Church of England Academy said: “We’re looking forward to making everyone feel very welcome at our open evening. Staff and pupil ambassadors will be delighted to show prospective parents around the classrooms to see all the facilities, resources and examples of the great work our students produce.
"The Deanery has only just joined the family of schools within The Park Academies Trust and so it’s a fresh start for all of us and we have ambitious plans for the future.”
The Deanery CE Academy in Wichelstowe was judged to be 'inadequate' by an Ofsted inspection, carried out on 12 and 13 September 2023.
Following the Special Measures judgement from Ofsted, a Termination Warning Notice was issued to DBAT from the Department for Education (DfE). This resulted in a decision that both The Deanery Academy and Kingfisher Primary School and nursery in Wichelstowe would join the Swindon-based Park Academies Trust in September 2024.
The Deanery is a Church of England Academy for students between the ages of 11 and 16. The school opened in 2019 and joined The Park Academies Trust in September 2024. The school blends a rigorous academic programme with a focus on the whole child and offers outstanding opportunities in sport, leadership, and the creative and performing arts.
