Strong set of A-Level results for pupils at Great Western Academy

Staff at Great Western Academy have announced this year's glowing set of results for their A-Level students, including Oxbridge application success.

Great Western Academy says it is very pleased by the A-Level results achieved by its small 2022 Year 13 cohort and the destinations they can now progress to.

After two years of disrupted learning due to the pandemic, the school is proud to announce 25% of students have gained places at Russell Group universities, including one to Cambridge, following on from two further Oxbridge successes last year. Others are said to have gained prestigious apprenticeships.

Key information provided by the school is as follows:

  • A-level pass rate: 99%
  • 75% of grades were grade C or better
  • A third of students gained BBB or better
  • 90% of students who applied to university were successful in gaining places
  • Individual highlights include achieved offers of:
    • Zinzi Mlotshwa A*A*A*A*   - Cambridge University, Geography
    • Charles Maddison AAA        - University of Bristol, Economics
    • Carol Naiova A*BC              - University of Sussex, Psychology
    • Matthew Stephenson AABC - University of Warwick, Politics and International Studies
    • Amberleigh Buttery ABC      - University of Bath, French
    • Maxwell King BBC               - University of Exeter, Marketing / Apprenticeship, Zurich
    • Also, Ibrahim Rostron has gained a place at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama

A spokesperson for the school said: "GWA Sixth Form students have shown excellent resilience, determination and dedication in completing their A-Levels over the past two years. Supported by our exceptional teachers, our students have demonstrated our ACE values of Achievement, Care and Excellence to achieve strong A Level results.

"We would like to congratulate all our Year 13s on their achievements. We wish them all the very best for the future and look forward to hearing about their successes."
