Three bands from Lawn Manor Academy went head-to-head in a six-way Battle of the Bands competition at MarshFest recently.

They were competing to perform on the main stage at the family-friendly festival.

This is the fourth year of the festival, set in the village of Marshfield just north of Bath.  New for this year was the MarshFest Battle of the Bands competition.  Six local school bands were shortlisted to take part, and three of them had Lawn Manor pupils, past and present.

Freight Train, 0607 and The Flow wowed the shortlisting panel with their demos and went on to wow the crowds at MarshFest, where they competed to perform on the main stage.

Dave Jones, Expressive Arts Team Lead at Lawn Manor Academy, encouraged the bands to apply for the competition.

He said: “We are all so proud of what our talented young people have achieved, and we’ve started this academic year off with a bang at MarshFest!”

Although none of the Lawn Manor Academy bands won the top prize of playing a set on the main stage at the festival, joining the likes of Talk in Code, an enjoyable day was had by all.

It has been an extremely busy few months for the pupils and staff at Lawn Manor Academy, who have held a sell-out Back to the 80s jukebox musical, won the Great British Dance Off competition in Cheltenham and performed live on a magical Disney stage at Disneyland Paris.

Lawn Manor Academy is part of the Ascend Learning Trust.
