Lethbridge Primary School has been appointed as a Lead School for music education by the Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire (GSW) Music Hub.
The prestigious recognition places Lethbridge among just seven outstanding schools in the region acknowledged for their exceptional quality of music education.
The team at Lethbridge say music is central to the school’s values and culture, and headteacher Lisa Mayes said: "We are incredibly proud to be named a Lead School, and that we have been recognised for the outstanding quality of our music education.
“From our vibrant termly musical productions and the school’s very own mini rock band to whole-class ensemble instrument lessons and the teaching of formal musical notation, the school consistently provides children with diverse opportunities to express themselves creatively through music. We look forward to championing collaboration and music-making for all."
As a designated Lead School, Lethbridge Primary will play an instrumental role in enhancing the standards of music education throughout the region. This will involve providing specialist Continuing Professional Development across key areas, conducting support visits to schools, championing music education at all levels, and working collaboratively with other GSW Music Hub schools to embed strong practice, all while identifying and addressing specific local needs.
Lisa Mayo of the Consortium Executive Team for GSW Music Hub said: "This initiative directly responds to the Department for Education's directive for Music Hubs to 'support stronger links between local schools and academy trusts, and broker opportunities for peer-to-peer learning.

"Our Lead Schools will integrate schools within the Music Hub framework as both customers and co-creators/delivery partners, creating a more collaborative and effective music education ecosystem."
Lethbridge Primary School is looking forward to working collaboratively with other schools in the region to enhance music education, and to ensuring that all children have access to high-quality musical experiences.
