Orchid Vale Primary School believes its curriculum and opportunities for students are something to be proud of.

The primary education establishment is a two form entry school with 60 children in each year group, organised into two classes per year group.

Orchid Vale Primary says it is proud to offer children an inclusive environment where individual strengths are recognised, celebrated and nurtured.

It also aims to lay secure foundations to grow as aspirational life-long learners, preparing its pupils for the next steps in life.

Staff at the school say they wish to foster a love of learning, encouraging independence, curiosity and creativity through a wide range of opportunities.

A spokesperson for the school added: "Following our visit from Ofsted in March 2020 and subsequently becoming part of the Park Academies Trust family of schools, significant collaborative work has taken place to develop and strengthen the quality of teaching and learning.

"Our broad curriculum is designed to give children a passion for the full range of subjects but yet be able to find their true strength in subjects that they might choose to pursue to the very highest level.

"The curriculum is built around engaging experiences and practical activities that enable the children to make sense of the key knowledge that they need in order to be prepared for the next stages in their school life.

"We’d love to show you our school. Please contact our school office to arrange a visit. Visits can be booked by calling through to our main office on 01793 745006."

Orchid Vale says families are warmly welcomed into the school community and that it firmly believes that, as a child’s first educators, parents and carers continue to have a significant role in a child’s school journey.

Phonics and reading are also central to school's curriculum. School classes are all named after successful children’s authors and a variety of activities are on offer to help foster within students, the idea of reading for pleasure.

The Lydiard Park Academy Trust is said to investing heavily in the school environment —enhancing its IT provision, library and Early Years outdoor learning provision.

Orchid Vale benefits from a wide range of shared facilities and expertise. It says it has worked closely with pupils, parents and staff to establish core values of:

  • Respect
  • Honesty
  • Kindness
  • Perseverance
  • Responsibility
  • Individuality

Staff say they share these common values through the way they work as a school and with the local community.

The school's spokesperson continued: "At Orchid Vale, every pupil has a voice that is heard through our Pupil Leadership Programme.

"Our groups include Anti-bullying ambassadors, Reading Champions, Eco-Council, Sports Leaders, Community Links Committee and Cultural Diversity Committee."
