Swindon parents have until Friday, January 15 to make primary and junior school place applications for their children.

Applications received after that date will be considered, but only after the children of all other applicants have been allocated their places.

The borough council's official guidance says: "Most children start school at the start of the school year following their fourth birthday. They can't start school before this. Unless you decide to educate your child at home, your child must start school by the school term following their fifth birthday.

"You can apply for a primary or infant school place starting September 2021 for a child born between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017.

"You can apply for a junior school place starting September 2021 for a child born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014.

"You need to apply for a transfer to a junior school if your child currently attends an infant school. Your child doesn't automatically qualify for a place if they attend the related infant school."

The  deadline to submit a change of address for consideration is 12 March.

Offer day is 16 April and the deadline day for accepting offers is 30 April.
