Swindon Borough Council say more than 95 per cent of Swindon pupils have secured a place in their first preference school for children that are starting in Reception in 2023.

Swindon Borough Council’s School Admissions team received 2,624 on-time applications for primary school places, with 95.6 per cent matched with their first preference.

Parents of prospective primary pupils could request a place in up to three schools and 99.1 per cent were offered a place in one of their three preferences.

Priority for places was determined by the admission criteria for the school in question.

The deadline for applying for primary school places was 15 January 2023, and parents who applied online should have received an email offer on 17 April, if they requested to receive their offer by email.

The council adds that offer emails for those that applied after the deadline, and letters for those who declined an offer email, will be sent out to parents throughout the day.
