Swindon pupils took part in a wide variety of activities to mark World Book Day, with children and staff dressing up as characters from their favourite stories.
At Bridlewood primary school pupils and staff organised a poetry slam with students reading out their favourite poems.
Kingfisher primary school pupils were allowed to come into school wearing their pyjamas.
At Red Oaks Primary the children came in dressed as their favourite book characters inspired by this year's World Book Day theme "Read your way". The children enjoyed making bookmarks and creative book making based on the stories they enjoy reading most! They also had a whole school costume parade to showcase their imaginative outfits.
Rachel Surch, Director of Primary, The Park Academies Trust, said: “All the World Book Day activities are a really fun way to share our favourite stories and books and they also encourage a love of reading and literacy which we all know is vital for future development and attainment across all subjects.”
Gemma Piper, CEO, The Park Academies Trust, said: “I’ve been delighted to see the huge variety of ways in which World Book Day has been celebrated across our trust. Our staff and students have approached World Book Day with creativity and enthusiasm, and I’m confident many more pupils will be reading for pleasure as a result of events this week.”
