Residents in Quarry Road, Old Town, had a narrow escape last night when a huge limb came crashing down - blocking the road and missing one of terrace homes by inches

Quarry Road resident, Nataley Fryer explained: "There was a huge crash - it was a bit scary. I have no idea why it fell, it might have been its sheer weight and size I suppose.
"Some people living in the road have warned that the tree was getting too big, with branches touching their roof when it gets windy. It could have been a lot worse, there are usually cars parked in the spot where it came down."

Workers from Swindon Borough Council were quickly on the scene and able to clear the debris from the road using chainsaws at 1am.
